Enjoy Chinese cultural performances to farewell the year of the money and welcome the rooster. Chinese Dragon and Lion performance, opportunity to feed the lion for good luck and prosperity and a fireworks finale to ward off bad luck!

Cairns Airport Cairns Chinese New Year Street Festival

Celebrate the welcoming of the Year of the Rooster with the Chinese Community during the KUR-World Great Barrier Reef Chinese New Year celebrations at the Cairns Airport Chinese New Year Street Festival.

This year’s program includes colorful Lion and Dragon performances, Chinese drumming, interactive art and cultural displays, Chinese food and a huge variety of market stalls and street food.  Children’s activities include the opportunity to feed the Lion and Chinese Craft.

The Good Guys Main Stage and STAR 102.7 Stage provide action-packed entertainment and prize draws. The street parade commences at 6pm and is followed later in the evening by firecrackers with the Chinese Lion performances.

The Cairns Airport Chinese New Year Street Festival celebrates Tropical North Queensland’s diversity and rich Chinese heritage. It is a popular and much anticipated community event which brings new life and vibrancy into the city, enhancing the visitor experience for all. .
