2016 is “Year of the Monkey”

2016 is Year of the Monkey with Chinese New Year on 8 February. The Cairns and District Chinese Association Incorporated (CADCAI) are looking for events, performers and market stall holders to participate in the 2016 Celebrations.

  • Supporting events:  Events and organisations are invited to join the Celebrations.  Events are to be held between 3 – 21 February 2016.
  • Performers:  Cultural and professional performers are invited to join the Cairns Airport Chinese New Year Street Festival, to be held in Grafton Street on Saturday 13 February.
  • Market and Food Stalls:  Market and food stallholders are invited to join the Cairns Airport Chinese New Year Street Festival, to be held in Grafton Street on Saturday 13 February.

Year of the Monkey
2016 is Year of the Monkey with Chinese New Year on 8 February. For people born in the year of the monkey ( 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956,1968, 1980, 1992, 2004), 2016 is considered an auspicious year.
Chinese New Year 2016 celebrations will commence on Tuesday 2 February and conclude on Saturday 20 February 2016.  y.  The signature event for the celebrations, The Cairns Airport Chinese New year Street Festival is to be held 4 – 9pm on Saturday 13 February in Grafton Street Cairns.   This is a free family event.
